A Word From Pastor Ken
The Apostle Paul wrote to a young preacher named Timothy. His words apply to all of God's people: "For this reason I remind you to fan into flame the gift of God, which is in you.... .For God did not give us a spirit of timidity, but a spirit of power, of love and of self-discipline.
Our church represents a small percentage of God's people who are dedicated to fan the flames of revival throughout our land, starting with us. We want to be that vessel that is used by God to reach people for the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. We have attempted to provide opportunity for all those who see to know Jesus Christ. We want to be a place where our community might come to hear the Good News that our sins might be forgiven. This is God's House where all people are welcome to come and worship, discover and grow in their knowledge of Jesus Christ.
Our people are a very loving community of believers where those in our world might come to feel that love expressed through a very caring fellowship. Jesus said the greatest command is to "Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind... And the second is like it: Love your neighbor as yourself" (Matt.22:37-39).
We want to invite all those who feel called by God to come and help us to fulfill our Lord's command to take the Gospel to all the earth (Matt.28:18). Each person in our church represents a precious soul that has experienced the promise of eternity in heaven and that is the Good News that we want to spread throughout the land.
In His footsteps
Pastor Ken Morgan
At Heartland Baptist Church, we believe that the number one need for all people is a relationship with Jesus Christ. The Bible clearly says what one must do to have a realtionship with Jesus Christ. If you have a Bible please look up the passages of Scripture while you read through the steps to salvation found below. If you do not have a Bible, please contact us so we may assist you in getting a copy of God's Word.
1. We are all sinners.
The Bible tells us clearly "For all have sinned and fall short of the Glory of God"
"There is no one righteous no, not one"
2. Sin separates us from God
Since God is perfect and holy and we are not, we deserve eternal death and hell, but God provided a way for an abundant life on earth and eternal life with Him in heaven through Jesus Christ.
3. We cannot save ourselves.
Nothing we can do including living a good moral life will be enough to get us into Heaven. "For the wages (price) of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord."
4. God provided a way for us.
Since we have no chance of living a perfect life of earth, God provided a way of salvation to us through Jesus Christ. Jesus lived a perfect life on earth and gave his life willingly on the cross to pay the price of our sin. He became the substitute for our penalty if we receive Him as Lord.
5. We must give our Life to Christ
The Bible tells us that we must confess (turn or repent of) our sins and God will forgive us. We must ask Jesus to come into our life to be our boss and ruler. When we ask Jesus in our life as our Savior and Lord, he comes in and cleanses us of our sin and even gives us power and motivation to live our life for him.
6. We can know for certain that we have eternal life
Read below for more information that will help you in your relationship with Christ
Salvation
• Assurance of salvation is the confidence that true believers possess eternal life and will one day live in heaven in the presence of God.
• The assurance of salvation is a certainty of mind and heart for those who —
CONFESS sin.
If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.” 1 John 1:9
Confess means “to agree.”
— Agree with God that you have sinned.
“For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” Romans 3:23
— Agree with God that the penalty for your sin is eternal death.
“For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 6:23
REPENT
“Peter replied, ‘Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.’” Acts 2:38
Repent means “to change your mind.”
— True repentance is a change of mind about sin with a change of direction from sin.
BELIEVE
“He Himself bore our sins in His body on the tree, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; by His wounds you have been healed.” 1 Peter 2:24
Believe means “to rely on, to trust in.”
— To believe in Jesus is not mere intellectual assent, but reliance on Him to be your personal sin substitute.
RECEIVE AND RELY
“Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved—you and your household.” Acts 16:31
Lord means “master, ruler, owner.” Once you ask and rely on Jesus to be your Lord (your owner), He becomes your Savior.
“If you confess with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved” Romans 10:9
What is Eternal Security?
• Eternal security is the Biblical doctrine that authentic Christians permanently
possess everlasting life based solely on the gift of salvation given by God.
• The eternal security of every believer is a fact which is —
INITIATED by God the Father . . .
“For He chose us in Him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in His sight.” Ephesians 1:4
ACCOMPLISHED through God the Son . . .
“In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace.” Ephesians 1:7
GUARANTEED by God the Holy Spirit . . .
“You also were included in Christ when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation. Having believed, you were marked in Him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit, who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until the redemption of those who are God’s possession—to the praise of His glory.” Ephesians 1:13-14
That's assurance!
